INSPECTOR General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has mentioned 18,360 neighborhood policing officers (CPOs) have been screened, vetted, recruited and educated.
This was as the Acting Chairman of the National Salaries and Wages Commission (NSWC), Ekpo Nta, mentioned a brand new salary structure for policemen would soon come into power.
Both males spoke at a workshop to sensitise members of the public on neighborhood policing, organised in conjunction with Unite Consult Limited and C. O. Luke & Co., in Abuja.
Nta, who was represented by Secretary to the fee, David Nyikyaa, mentioned documentation on the improved salary structure for the police had been accomplished and was awaiting submission to the President for approval.

Adamu mentioned 4 states – Anambra, Borno, Kwara and Osun – are but to undertake the recruitment and coaching, although modalities for the train have been being perfected with their governors.
The IGP mentioned the coaching ran for 4 weeks, including that upon completion, the CPOs have been kitted with specifically branded police uniforms with identification badges.
He mentioned most of the states had deployed the CPOs to their statutory responsibility of complementing the police and their communities in constructing belief.
Adamu reassured Nigerians of their security and safety by guaranteeing that the police keep legislation and order throughout the localities.
The police boss mentioned the power had been receiving particular requests from some governors for the recruitment, coaching, kitting and deployment of extra CPOs to their domains.
He mentioned the governors had made commitments to assembly the monetary necessities for the recruitment.
According to him, such requests have been obtained from Niger, Edo, Lagos and Nasarawa states and had been attended to.
