The Presidency has stated that the appointments of safety chiefs are not topic to federal character.
The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Femi Adesina made this identified whereas reacting to experiences that the Buhari administration has repeatedly made such appointments with out the inclusion of any man or girl of Igbo extraction.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Adesina stated whereas sure appointments are topic to Federal Character, safety is not one of them.
According to him, the President can appoint whoever he feels is match and will ship the job precisely.
“There are sure appointments that are topic to federal character, as an example, the structure says that there should be a minister from every state of the nation.
“However, there are sure appointments that are not topic to federal character and one of them is in the safety.
“In safety, It is about competence; it is about the capability to ship.
“So, the president will appoint whoever he feels is fit and proper and will deliver to the best for the country and for Nigerians,” he stated
The new service chiefs, Nairalovers had earlier reported, are: Major-General Leo Irabor as Chief of Defence Staff; Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao ss Chief of Air Staff; Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo as Chief of Naval Staff; and General Ibrahim Attahiru as Chief of Army Staff.
