The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) has seen to the
successful return of 10,300 illegal Nigerian migrants from Europe.
The Programme Manager, Migration Management Unit (MMU) and
Head of IOM Lagos Sub-office, Abraham Tamrat, made the
disclosure during a campaign in Benin City.
The UN agency chief noted that the exercise was to sensitise the
youths on the danger of irregular migration.
He harped on the need for people at the grassroots to be informed
on the menace as well as see reason why international agencies
have kept dissuading people from travelling abroad illegally.
Other chartered flights are being planned to bring in more
Nigerians from Libya. But more of the returnees are from Edo
State, that is why our activities are increasing here,” Tamrat
stated.
