Boko Haram’s Abubakar Shekau-led group, Jama’atu Ahlussunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, has released footage of it shooting down a missing Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet Aircraft.
The plane had lost touch with radar in Borno state on Wednesday evening.
The plane was on its way to provide assistance to troops fighting Boko Haram insurgents on the ground.
In a statement released on Friday, NAF spokesperson Edward Gabkwet said the whereabouts of the two flying officers who piloted the jet were unknown.
In a video released on Friday, Boko Haram claimed responsibility for shooting down the plane.
The group also revealed fighters carrying RPG and artillery equipment, as well as the pilot’s body and aircraft debris, according to HumAngle.
In February, an Air Force plane crashed at the Abuja airport, killing all seven people on board.
