APPRECIATING YOUR IDENTITY – PASTOR FRANKLIN

One of the greatest gifts God gave to man is “SIGHT” yet we must
be careful what we see with it. Because the size of your world is
determined by the sight of your eyes. The sight we mean here is
not that which the physical eyes can visualize it is that which the
inner eyes can interpret from its environments. You can never see
beyond the quality of person you are. You will always see the
world from the perspective of who you are. If you do not recognize
your identity you will be limited in your walk with God.
Let’s observe something from the life of Abraham and lot in the
book of Gen 13:5-13. Abrahams servants had issues with lots
servants. Abraham intervened and suggested a separation
between them. And they both were to choose their paths.
Scriptures said in Genesis 13:10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and
beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where,
before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the
garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto
Zoar.”
Lot saw a land well watered. His physical sight picked a land that
seemed very fertile but little did he know that the land was set for
destruction.
But for Abraham he knew his identity. He knew he had to walk
with God, his sight was directed by God not by the fertile nature of
the land. Gen 13:14 And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot
was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the
place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and
westward:
Abraham’s sight was exposed to the very promise of God and that
sight directed him. God is first passionate about developing a
quality mindset that qualifies you for the promise. His greatest
drive is to create in you an identity that will reflect through your
sight so you can see the world with his very nature. *”Your mindset
determines your life setting”
After God showed Abraham the kind of land awaiting him and his
descendants it broadened his view. It is indeed true that the size of
your world is determined by the sight of your eyes. We must pray
that God may broaden our world view and create in us an amazing
identity that will reflect in how we see things. We will be limited in
how much we can do for God if our sight (inner eyes) is limited.
We must learn to see things the way God sees them that’s our only
guarantee to doing things God can do.
