MTN launches 4G network withing Nigerian cities

Determined to offer premium service to its customers across the country, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc on Tuesday launched 4G+ in three cities of Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt. MTN 4G+ runs on 4G LTE advanced technology, using a combination of the recently acquired 800 megahertz (MHz) spectrum and 2600 MHz. The added spectrum and advanced technology extend the reach and capacity of MTN’s data network in Nigeria and it enables speeds of up to 200 Mbps. A 30-minute HD video could take as little as three minutes to download on 4G+, while the same video would take around eight minutes to download on standard 4G. Edo State Assembly Crises Worsen

Rather than subside, the crisis of confidence rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State seems to be growing. Man collapse, died instantly in court

A 35-year-old man Jerry Makar, slumped and died inside the courtroom of the National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Makurdi, Benue state capital. The unfortunate incident which occurred at the weekend forced the tribunal chairman to adjourn sitting abruptly. The deceased Jerry Makar was a supporting staff attached to National and State Election Petition Tribunal. He was said to be drafted from the Benue State Judicial to help the election tribunal serve tribunal processes on litigants. INEC denies resignation of Director of information over server controversy

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday denied claims that its Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Mr. Chidi Nwafor, had resigned. The commission made the clarification in a notice on its official twitter handle @inecnigeria. It dismissed the rumour as false and urged the public to disregard it. It said: “The rumour circulating that our Director ICT, Engr. Chidi Nwafor, has resigned is totally false and should be disregarded. “The director and another staff have just returned from South Africa where they represented INEC at the high level 5th Annual Meeting of ID4Africa Movement in Johannesburg (from June 18 to June 20). “Neither he nor any senior staff has resigned his appointment or indicated such intention, since the elections.”

Nigerian students recorded as highest in the world with suicidal rate

The Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CCAMH), University of Ibadan, says that Nigerian students have one of the highest rates of suicidal thoughts and attempts globally. Prof. Olayinka Omigbodun, the Director of CCAMH, stated this on Wednesday in Ibadan at a symposium held to mark the 2019 Day of the African Child.
