The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has rejected the request by the National returning Officer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the last presidential election, Osita Chidoka to amend his written statement on oath. Buhari approves recruitment of 5,000 personnel for NDLEA

The Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Col. Muhammad Abdallah (retd), says President Muhammadu Buhari has approved recruitment of 5,000 personnel for the agency to boost its manpower. Abdallah said this on Friday at the Public Destruction of Drug Exhibits by Taraba Command of NDLEA in Jalingo. He said it would go a long way in improving operations of the agency on campaign against drug addiction in Nigeria. He said increased consumption of illicit drugs among the youths in Taraba was worrisome, appealing to families to live up to their responsibilities. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunlesi has raised the alarm over the security challenges in the country, declaring that the southwest does not want war. 2019 budget: Group seeks review of frivolous expenditures to save N74.2bn

A civil society group, Centre for Social Justice (CSJ),  has identified some inappropriate expenditures  in the 2019 Budget, saying the nation would save over  N74.175 billion if its overheads  are reviewed. In a statement, the Lead Director of the group, Mr Eze Onyekpere, said the N4,360,392.146 budgeted for annual routine maintenance of mechanical/electrical installations in the Villa should be reduced by 50 per cent. He  also  argued that the State House perpetually gets votes for rehabilitations and repairs of buildings every year on fixed assets that do not deterioriate annually. 2023: INEC commences plan, pledges to improve electoral system

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the commission has commenced plan for the 2023 general elections with the ongoing series of review of 2019 general elections.
