Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has warned Nigerians to withstand the temptation of enjoying politics with the killing of troopers in Metele, Borno State by a Boko Haram faction.
“We should resist the temptation to play politics with the tragedy of the deaths of our troopers.” Buhari tweeted on Sunday.
“They’re heroes on the frontlines, combating to make Nigeria a safer place for us all,” he added.
The president additional assured Nigerians that “the circumstances which have led to those deaths might be comprehensively addressed.”
That is coming after the Islamic State sponsored faction of the terrorist group killed over 100 troopers of the 157 Activity Pressure Battalion in an assault on November 18.
For a number of days after the information of the killings was reported, the president was extensively criticised for his silence on the killings by his opposition and Nigerians.
