Ex-convicts Nabbed In Ogun After Armed Robbery In Ibadan. Photo

Two suspected armed robbers, whose operational base was in Ibadan, Oyo State have swum into the waiting hands of police detectives in Ogun State.

It was gathered that the suspects, Oseni Usman, 34 and Taiwo Oregbemi, 46, both ex-convicts, had caused pains on residents of Akobo in Ibadan, from whom valuables worth millions of naira were stolen.

Having disposed of the handy items like phones, laptops and jewelries, and were heading to Lagos, to deliver the stolen Toyota Sienna bus with which they were travelling, to a receiver, they ran into men of the Zonal Intervention Squard (ZIS) of Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos.

They were arrested at about 9:30am on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Ogere-Remo in Ogun State.

According to a press release by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), CSP Dolapo Badmos, ” the operatives, while on visibility policing around Ogere Remo within Ogun State, intercepted a brown colour Toyota Sienna Bus, with two occupants. On flagging down the vehicle, the suspects attempted to escape but the policemen were able to nab them due to their alertness.

“On searching the vehicle, a locally made cut to size gun with three live cartridges were recovered. Consequently they were moved to police base for investigation.

“Upon interrogation, the two suspects confessed to have robbed residents of Akobo area in Ibadan Oyo State, where they stole goods worth millions of naira, adding that part of their loots, comprising phones, laptops and other gadgets, had been sold to some receivers in Oyo State, while the Sienna bus was being taken to Lagos for a ready buyer”, the ZPPRO stated.

The suspects also confessed to had formed a gang while serving their jail terms in Agodi Prison, Ibadan as they further revealed that their operational base was in Ibadan.

Badmos said: “the operational strategy the Command put in place for the Yuletide season actually paid off, stating further that the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Lawal Shehu, has directed the operatives to fish out other perpetrators involved in the crime to ensure due prosecution.
