Katsina youths chide APC, PDP over leadership squabbles

By Augustine Okezie, Katsina

Katsina State Youth Democratic Forum, KYDF, have criticized the two leading political parties in the country, APC and PDP over internal leadership squabbles that have threatened Nigeria’s nascent democracy in recent times

Chairman of the group, Alhaji Shamsudeen Sale, who made the observation at a press briefing in Katsina, further called for the immediate dissolution of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committees at national, ward, local and state levels, to give for fresh re-engineering of the party

He said “the retention of the outgoing executive members as caretakers of the party by the APC, is unacceptable in a democratic era’’.

“The action of APC in retaining outgoing executive members is unacceptable in the democratic process which will not only affect intra-party politics but will equally cause confusion in the democratic process.

“We call for the immediate dissolution of the caretakers of APC and the youths should fully form the structures at all levels”.

The group also decried what it called “negligence of youths in the political cycle by Governor Aminu Bello Masari-led administration in Katsina state,’’ adding that it will mobilize its members to vote only candidates that will carry the youths along in the next general elections.

On the suspension of Engineer Muttaqa Rabe Darma by the Katsina state branch of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the group while describing it as undemocratic said the suspension will cause confusion and create division in the opposite party.

They also insisted that the suspension of the PDP stalwart would endanger members’ right to elect good leaders in the forthcoming general elections.

They said, “The recent so-called suspension of Engineer Muttaqa Rabe Darma will not only create chaos in PDP but will endanger the citizens right to elect good leaders in the next coming election which will equally paralyze political activities in the state.”
