Kogi Election: PDP security chief, six others areested over illegal possession of arms

Policemen from Abuja on Saturday arrested a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Suleiman Ejeh Abutu, and 6 others, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, over alleged unlawful possession of firearms and ammunitions.

The growth is approaching the heels of persistent fears that politicians have been arming thugs forward of the November 16 governorship election within the state.

Abutu is claimed to be the chairman of the safety committee for the Wada/Aro marketing campaign organisation in Dekina LGA.

The munitions have been stated to have been procured to unleash terror on the voters through the election.

Pump motion weapons, AK-47 rifles and pistols have been reportedly recovered from the suspects.

Abutu and the others arrested have been stated to have made helpful statements to the police.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a swift response, referred to as on the folks to ignore the allegations being peddled by the “APC.”

The state Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Hakeem Busari, stated the arrest was affected by policemen from the headquarters in Abuja, “this morning,” and never policemen within the state that carried out the raid.
