NIGERIAN PEOPLES PARTY
The Nigeria Peoples Party was formed in 1979 through the merger of Lagos progressive, club 19 and Nigerian council of understanding. Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri was the leader of the party, other prominent members include; Dr Obi Wale, Chief Sam Mbakwe etc. Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe later joined the party, he was voted the leader and presidential candidate for the 1979 general election. This was the major reason why Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri left the party.

- The party won the governorship election in three (3) states of Imo, Anambra, and Plateau thereby controlling the state. 2. The party save the collapse of presidential system of government. 3. NPP produced eminent and potential politicians for Nigeria. 4. The party provided political consciousness
