The Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property has accused corrupt Nigerians of spreading fake information about its actions.

Chairman of the panel, Mr. Okoi Obono-Obla, disclosed this on Monday why denying information of the alleged sealing off of its workplace by Nigeria Police Force.

In an announcement he personally signed, Obono-Obla, attributed the allegations to these underneath investigation by the panel.

The panel’s workplace at No. 2802 Idris Kutigi Street, Asokoro Extension, Abuja, was on the weekend allegedly sealed off by police operatives.

But responding to the purported sealing off of the workplace, Obono-Obla mentioned: “As you all know, the previous few days have been awash with media studies of police sealing the places of work of the panel.

“My consideration was drawn to the unlucky information merchandise making the rounds. I’ve been inundated with calls from members of the general public who’re in search of to know the true place of occasions in regards to the purported sealing off of the SPIP places of work in Abuja by armed policemen.

“As you all know, the previous few days have been awash with media studies of police sealing the places of work of the panel.

“My consideration was drawn to the unlucky information merchandise making the rounds. Obono-Obla mentioned that officials of the panel had made and continued to contribute vitally to the battle in opposition to corruption.

The efforts of the SPIP within the battle in opposition to corruption in Nigeria should be recognised.

“Instead, we are being dismissed with misleading scary stories and arm-twisting of the panel officials by ‘highly-placed Nigerians’ wishing to protect some persons under our investigation and thereby distracting the panel from carrying out its lawful mandate,” he added.
