Prof. Segun Ajiboye, Registrar/Chief Executive, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), says the council has written to the Director- General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), advising him to cease posting graduates with out Education levels to train in colleges.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), quotes Ajiboye as telling newsmen on Monday in Ibadan that the measure was one of the steps towards reworking education within the nation.
“Most of those posted to teach in the mandatory one year scheme do not have qualification to teach. Education system gets bastardised when unqualified persons without requisite professional skills are deployed to teach,” he stated.
Ajiboye, nonetheless, acknowledged that there was a dearth of certified lecturers in some states of the federation, noting that majority of these educating in non-public nursery and first colleges nationwide weren’t certified to be within the class.
