PEOPLES REDEMPTION PARTY (PRP)
Peoples Redemption Party was formed by Mallam Aminu Kano in 1978 after his withdrawal from National Party of Nigeria (NPN). Other members of the party include; Abubakar Rimi, Balarebe Musa, Chinua Achebe who was the deputy president of the party. PRP contested in the 1979 general election with Aminu Kano as the presidential candidate but lost to NPN. In April 1983, Aminu Kano died and PRP replaced him with Alhaji Hassan Yusuf as the presidential candidate for the 1983 general election but the party lost for the second time to NPN.
