The Police in Kaduna State on Thursday stated it has arrested 5 officers of the National Turberclosis and Leprosy Training Centre (NTLTC), Zaria, over alleged employment rip-off.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Yakubu Sabo, who confirmed the arrests, stated that the 5 suspects have been serving to the police wit its investigation.
Sources informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that 200 pretend appointment letters have been issued to purported newly recruited employees of the centre by members of the syndicate.
According to the sources, who didn’t need their names revealed, the pretend appointment letters have been found throughout bio-metric capturing of newly employed members of employees of the centre on IPPIS in Zaria.
According to the sources, the affected employees have been livid when their names have been found to not be on the official record produced by IPPIS crew.
Those affected, the sources stated, disclosed that they paid between N200,000 and N700,000 to safe employment by the centre.
The sources alleged that some members of the committee constituted by the Director of the Centre, Dr Labaran Shehu to work out modalities for recruitment into the centre have been concerned within the rip-off.
When contacted on his cell phone, the Director, Dr Shehu stated the problem had been reported to the police for correct investigation.
He assured that these concerned within the matter wouldn’t go unpunished, stressing ‘’they are going to be prosecuted in line with the legal guidelines of the land.’’ (NAN)
