Marriage is two officially made one. Marrriage is God’s institution
for man and woman to come together with one purpose, as a team
and to accomplish His divine agenda (Genesis 1 & 2). Marriage is
a team, not a tradition.
The right perceptive on marrriage is so important, if you truly want to enjoy your marriage and see it work. This individual theory perceptive of marrriage has never worked. In fact, it has failed woefully right from the Garden of Eden, when Eve decided to engage in a classified conversation with a stranger and made unhealthy decisions with this stranger in the absence of her husband (Reference Genesis 3).
Listen, selfishness and self centeredness are cancerous not just in marriage but also in the Church today. Thus, weakening, corrupting the building structure and robbing it of its original authority, influence and power. This is what we see happening in Christian marriages today, it is not just about the external forces and unseemly threat but these are internal, where you see spouse that started well, confessed amazing things about each other, in a short while or years later went haywire overnight, refusing to walk in love or genuinely praying or tried to win each other over. Instead, you see the person complaining, contradicting and feeling unworthy to continue the marriage union.
Psalms 133 reveals the importance for spouse or the Church to walk in love, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing—Life forevermore”.
James chapter 4 teaches comprehensively, saying Pride Promotes Strife. Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask
and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it
on your pleasures.
Adulterers and adulteresses, Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? But He gives more grace.
Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the
humble.” Humility Cures Worldliness. Therefore submit to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He
will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify
your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep. Let
your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
Do Not Judge a Brother or sister. Do not speak evil of one another,
brethren. He or she who speaks evil of a brother or sister and
judges his brother or sister, speaks evil of the law and judges the
law. Who are you to judge another? Verse 17 sum it up.
Therefore, to him or she who knows to do good and does not do it,
to him or her it is sin”. Yes and it is a call to responsibly and daily renew your mind and have an intimate relationship with the Father through His Word as to be guided in marriage and every other
areas of your life. Romans 12:2.
