We need a better Lagos-Fred Chukwuelobe

It was one that was controversial. Even the 7-man National
Working Committee (NWC) team led by former Cross River State
Governor, Mr. Clement Ebiri, didn’t know what it was sent to do.
While the committee was waiting to be chauffeur-driven to the
venues of the exercise, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his team
finished the primaries that sealed the fate of His Excellency
Akinwunmi Ambode as the party’s flagbearer for the governorship
election. In Lagos, Ebiri announced the cancellation of the Jagaban election, citing non-compliance with the party’s guidelines. He announced that the committee will be fixing another date and time for a proper exercise. Meanwhile, in Abuja, the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, met with President Muhammdu Buhari and, thereafter, declared the result duly completed and authentic. Ebiri will live to regret the day he accepted to do a job he didn’t know about. I just hope he and his team collected “something” from both parties. It will be sad of they returned to Abuja empty handed. Anyways, can we get ready for a lull in governance of Lagos, the so-called mega city? Can we start saving money to change our vehicles’ shock absorbers because the potholes won’t disappear soon? Can we make appointments for routine medical checks because the filth won’t disappear?
If you drive on Lagos roads make plans to buy high blood pressure
medicines because the menace of commercial vehicle and
motorcycle operators is not about to abate.
This is the price we, the grass, have to pay for sitting and watching
two elephants fight. Whether you collected money and voted for
either of the candidates or not, come and queue up and collect your
own share of the stalemate that follows.
As for Ambode, I don’t know what to say. Let’s watch as events
unfold. I had advised him not to challenge his “chi” after a good
meal. But he didn’t listen. Now his nose has been bloodied. Sad!
Let us hope that Jide Sanwo-Olu is not truly a kolomental, as
Ambode claimed, and that, if he runs and wins, Lagos will be truly a
cosmopolitan city, devoid of the filth and potholes that are it’s face currently. We need a better Lagos. We need it fast.
